  • Gas Managed Learning Programmes (MLP)

     

    We are approved to deliver ERS Managed Learning Programmes which comply with the requirements of IGEM/IG/1 Standards of training in gas work. ERS has developed these programmes to assist New Entrants into the gas industry.

    On successful completion of the training, portfolio and assessment, candidates who are issued with an ERS Managed Learning Programme certificate can then apply to undertake relevant ACS assessments which are recognised by Gas Safe Register for registration purposes.

    The entry routes available are as follows:

    The programmes are suitable for:

    • New Entrants WITHOUT Experience or Qualifications
    • New Entrants WITH Relevant Experience or Qualifications

     

    New Entrants WITHOUT Experience or Qualifications:

    • you will be new to the gas industry and will be without a recognised qualification or experience
    • you will be required to undertake onsite training and provide work-based portfolio of evidence gained under the supervision of a Gas Safe Registered installer
    • you will be required to undertake training at an ERS Approved Centre
    • you will be required to complete MLP assessments

     

    New Entrants WITH Relevant Experience or Qualifications will:

    • you will hold a recognised qualification in the mechanical services engineering sector
    • you will be required to undertake onsite training and provide work-based portfolio of evidence gained under the supervision of a Gas Safe Registered installer, along with submission of evidence of experienced gained which should detail precisely the type, range and volume of gas work carried out
    • you will be required to undertake training at an ERS Approved Centre
    • you will be required to complete MLP assessments
    • your training and onsite evidence may be reduced depending upon qualifications held and experience evidence submitted, this will be discussed during a technical interview at the centre

    Depending upon the entry route and chosen programme, the duration of the MLP will be a minimum of 6 months and will require attendance at the centre along with gaining and documenting onsite experience under the supervision of a Gas Safe Registered engineer.

    Gas assessment Package

    Core + 4 appliances (CCN1+CEN/WAT+CKR1+HTR1)

    Duration: 1 days training and approximately 2 days assessments

    Each appliance assessment takes approximately ½ day to complete.

     

     

    Core Domestic Gas Safety – Natural Gas CCN1 incl CPA1

     

    Domestic Appliances

    CENWAT Open flued, balanced flued (natural draught and fan assisted) central heating/hot water boilers and circulators, condensing boilers, back boiler units, combination boilers and combination units.

     

    HTR1 Range of appliances covered – Open flued gas fire (radiant/convector), open flued inset live fuel effect gas fire (ILFE), open flued decorative fuel effect gas fire (DFE) balanced flued gas fire and balanced fan assisted wall heater.

     

    CKR1- Domestic gas cooking appliances. Range of appliances covered – Free standing and slide in cookers, built-in hotplates, built-in/under ovens and grill units.

     

    MET1 Domestic Gas Meters-install, exchange, remove and commission domestic gas meters . Range of meters covered – Primary and secondary meters up to 6 cubic metres per hour capacity.

     

    DAH1  Domestic gas fired ducted air heaters not exceeding 70kw input.

     

    LAU1 Domestic Gas Laundry Appliances– Tumble Driers, Wash Boilers.

     

    *A certification fee is charged on all gas bookings, if elements are combined then only one fee is charged.
